I was talking to the Rachels tonight and I really wish I wrote more. I've been looking through documents on my computer and it's really humbling to see everything I've created in the past few years lumped into a few folders. Anyway.

So I got so see some old pictures of my dad's side of the family that I'd never seen before and I've been writing poetry about them. Here's one of them which is not so bad (though it doesn't end so much as it stops). I'm still working on a much longer one that may show up here at some point soon.

About the poem. You are free to disagree with me, but I feel that in your second to last stanza you actually get somewhere a little profound, that you really do belong to modernity, and I like that. I think, by going back to the sentiments of the rest of the poem, you cheapen that realization, and lose the growth that makes the poem an ( Read more... )

So I wrote this today, maybe about an hour ago. I like some of it a lot, but some of it is also kind of hmmm. I like the idea of it, and I think some of it carries it well, but it gets a little going around and around. The last two stanzas didn't really come out right.

So I was going through my room in search of amusement, and I came across an old notebook that I've been idly looking for for a little while. And I found a poem that I wrote a little over a year ago that, if nothing else, has a little potential. I can remember writing it, but I can't remember what it was supposed to mean. Ah well.
